For some yes ... there are many excellent sport coaches who utilize their full-time S&C coach at the high school as well. But, I have also seen several times where sport coaches cease in-season S&C training for a variety of reasons - time, "kids will get sore", "it will ruin their shot (hoops)", etc. All false if S&C is well-designed and well-coached. And just the opposite - decreases likelihood of injury, impacts performance, etc.
My kids aren't yet in high school. I had no clue the strength training stops in the fall. Agree with you, that seems bonkers.
