This maxim <Tested | Trained | Energized> was a central theme when I directed Spartan Performance, a youth training and research center at Michigan State University. It explains my holistic approach to athletic development, integrated sports performance and health, which I will write, teach and consult about here.
IronMan Performance spans each of these areas, and will include insights into: sport science, technology, screening & monitoring; research, data science [Tested]; all things strength & conditioning, physical literacy, fitness or whatever you choose to call it, along with the “training” (education) of the next generation of and professional development for exercise/sport/health scientists and practitioners [Trained]; and recovery, nutrition, sleep and mental skill development [Energized]. At the end of the day, I am most interested in helping you build healthy, fit, and robust young people.
Posts and updates will include short blogs and longer written content (excerpts from book chapters, longer scholarly blogs); vlogs; infographics; short courses and other effective communication strategies to learn about health and human performance.
About Joe Eisenmann
I am the IronMan ….. Eisenmann means ‘ironman’ in my German heritage. To me this also signifies building robust young people - and I have dedicated my lifetime to this aim through my diverse experiences that have taken me from the playing field to the coach’s office to the university classroom and research laboratory to the weight room and into the board room.
I have taught several university courses in exercise & sport science; published 200+ scientific papers that have been cited nearly 20,000 times and ranking me as one of the world’s top sport scientists; served on national and international advisory committees; lectured & presented nationally and internationally; consulted with USA Hockey on their athletic development model and with several scholastic institutions and clubs; overseen efforts in long-term athlete development as Director of High Performance & Coaching at USA Football and Head of Strength & Conditioning at IMG Academy; coordinated sport science programs; and coached thousands of youth athletes. This background and wide lens on health & human performance allows me a unique perspective to address issues and problems that you may need help with.
